Practical Training: Managing Transitions (Paris, France, 10. Sep. 2010)
Managing Transitions and Organizational Change
Organizer: EIRMA, European Industrial Research Management Association Date: 25.-26. Feb. 2010
Location: Paris, France
Purpose of this Training: Companies are currently in front of many changes and transformations. Business models are adjusted, R&D is refocused, management is redirected towards cost-saving and globalization, new products arrive across industries to address themes such as green or lean, companies restructure, merge or introduce new product line and business areas, lean management and Six Sigma principles are introduced, supply chains are reorganized, and development is made more efficient. Such changes need to be well orchestrated to be effective, sustainable and successful. Reality unfortunately shows that more than half of these change initiatives and transformation fail. Reasons are manifold but can be grouped in three areas: Lack of leadership, wrong targets, and insufficient change management.
The Learning Group will focus on key elements to make an organizational change successful, show with participants the experiences, but also traps and tips, and have useful case studies. It is about making companies more performing – and doing it sustainably, not like a straw fire. It will provide underlying methodology as well as a concrete change test, principles and tools for making effective transformations (Six Sigma, Lean Management, CMMI, etc.) and will look into the people domain.
Target Audience: Engineering managers who face transitions or are in the midst of implementing an organizational change. The training addresses all hierarchy functions who need to successfully lead organizational changes. It also addresses change agents and consultants active in transformation programs.
Group Leader:
Dr. Christof Ebert is managing director and partner at Vector Consulting Services. He is helping clients worldwide to improve technical product development and to manage organizational changes. Prior to working at Vector, he held engineering and management positions for fifteen years in telecommunication, IT, and transportation. As a business consultant, author of several books, lecturer at the University of Stuttgart, and public speaker, he has influenced numerous companies with his results-driven contributions.
Deliverables: At the end of this interactive course with organizational change examples and exercices, participants will be able to approach the main steps of change programs with the support of case studies from different industries. They will be able to get answers to the following questions:
- How to best plan a change program?
- What are success factors for different types of transitions?
- How many resources and which skills and competencies need to be budgeted?
- How to align strategic changes with immediate operational needs?
- How to make sure the various functions cooperate to make the transition effective?
- What are the benefits of change?
- Can we measure these benefits?
